Shane began his K9 training in 1996 while employed at his first police department. Where he learned to decoy for police K9 and learned basic scent detection. During this time, he also trained with a United States Customs trainer and was thankful for the opportunity. In 2002, Shane was paired with his first K9 partner, a black German Shepherd named Hektor, imported from Slovakia. K9 Hektor was an explosives detection and patrol dog. Shane trained with several federal agencies during his time with Hektor. Shane retired K9 Hektor and went to a new department in 2004. After a couple of years, he was back in K9 and was teamed up with a narcotics detection and patrol dog, K9 Kane, that had been imported from the Czech Republic. When Kane retired in 2009, Shane was paired with K9 Immo, a narcotics and patrol dog that had been imported from Germany. When K9 Immo retired in 2015, Shane was trained as an instructor and trainer and trained his fourth detection and patrol dog, K9 Cziko, who had also been imported from the Czech Republic. Shane and K9 Cziko had a great career and were able to retire together on July 31, 2021. Since 2015, Shane has also been training personal protection, sport detection, and tracking dogs and continues to train police service dogs.

We tailor our training to each dog’s individual needs. Throughout the process, our goal is always the same. We help you to build a strong relationship with your canine so that your dog understands proper behavior and has established clear boundaries and communication in all environments.
We believe all dogs should be family-friendly, whether inquiring about personal protection dogs or obedience training. Our dogs are trained to be around other adults, children, animals, and other family pets.
Our customized personal protection dogs come with optional in-home training to ensure a smooth transition. Private lessons for obedience training are also offered.
We deliver all Personal Protection Dogs nationwide. For Obedience, Tracking, and Scent Detection clients, nationwide training is provided on a case-by-case basis.
We are here to help with any questions you have before or after the purchase of the dog. Saber supports all our dogs for their entire working life. Maintenance training sessions are also offered. Problem-solving sessions are free if you are in the North Texas area. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Saber Working Dogs’ logo is quite unique with its many elements, each rooted in tradition.
The sword in the centerpiece is a nod to a police K9s prayer: “For I am your right arm, The sword at your side.” The sword can be on its scabbard and can do no harm, but unsheathed, it is a formidable weapon. A properly trained dog can serve that exact use.
The dogs represent a Belgian Malinois, a German Shepherd, and a Labrador Retriever. We chose these dogs because they are the most common K9 breeds in law enforcement and have shown to be loyal companions for officers. They are also typically selected for personal protection dogs due to their outstanding qualities of being family pets.
Saber Working Dogs offers custom-trained personal protection dogs, obedience training, scent detection, and tracking training that is tailored to your dog’s individual needs. Our prices vary depending on the type of training and the dog’s current level of skill. Call us, and we can help you get accurate information on cost.
